"Early Morning Attire" can be on the informal side at a VROC Rally. Melanie and Mike are returning from the dining room of the resort with more coffee...Here we have sweatshirt, Pajamas, and logging boots!
Menanie, (Purple 500), Eric (El Nomad) and Don (VSP) are soaking up some morning sun. The ground is soaked with nightly rain! Thunder storms rolled through several times, the last around 4 AM. Looks like a good day, only 20% chance of rain today.
Jamie T., our host, is already on vacation from his new job today. We're all happy that things are going well for him. At work in a great position for only a couple days, and they are giving him time off to go to the Oregon Rally too. Can't beat a boss like that!

These last 4 of the night were taken a few minutes ago, just before the rain came down in buckets!! Some went to rooms, some are outside under the veranda. I'm in the room with the door open watching the bike get wet. Some parked inside a large barn, but most are in front of the rooms.
No camp fire, but evening talk
Skid and others are entertaining with stories of the trip
Almost the end of the first official day of the rally. Tomorrow rides will be going on, and in the evening a BBQ dinner here at the lodge.
Walked a long way up a HILL to get a picture of this family. It was worth it.
Slammer taking pictures of some of the penned animals. Sandy is running from Tom, the friendly turkey.
He's pretty ugly, but friendly..and liked to chase Sandy
Getting all loaded up to head out for Lewie's and supper.
Lead, SD, local hot spot
This looks sort of small from the outside, but it's a huge place inside. Lots of different "theme" rooms.
This room was full of all kinds of NASCAR items, and other stuff
There were 18 of us at dinner tonight. There will be more tomorrow
Hungry folks
Hmmmmm, the burgers look good. I ended up ordering Catfish.
Slammer ordered an Amber Bock, came in a quart jar...........
So, Flaming Willy tried one too..he had a larger head on his
Don was missbehaven' so he had to sit in the "little person" seat
Orders are in, waiting for the chow!
We passed this heavy equipment operator in Spearfish canyon earlier today, he was driving a large back hoe and held us up for awhile at a bridge construction site. A friendly guy, some "local color"
The evening meal is over..heading out to try and beat the rain. We only had a few drops, but those leaving a few minutes later got soaked.
In the Recreational Springs Lodge after dinner, some had pie and coffee
Skid had amaretto cheese cake, he's licking his lips for the last taste
Jamie T., Mike. Mary Lu, and Melanie. These folks live here in Lead. Jamie and Melanie (Purple 500) are our host and hostess.
Not exactly what you want in front of you entering Spearfish Canyon! Actually, the truck did good until he came upon a tourist lady driving less than 30 mph. We did manage to get around them in after a couple of miles of frustration It was a beautiful 17 mile trip out to I-90 and on to Sturgis.
In about 6 weeks, you won't find a parking place here, and, for a week, there won't be any 4 wheelers in this block. Main Street, Sturgis..lots of memories here!
For you that have been here during Bike Week, this doesn't ever look familiar!
Metric bikes are pretty rare here during the Bike Week festivities. They are more prevalent on side streets
One Eyed Jack's, a newly remodeled Sturgis landmark.
Thursday morning. Warm and nice, but there are already some big thunder boomers building to the North. We'll probably have rain again this afternoon. Skid took the "easy chair" out of the room so he could get last couple thousand miles of bugs. He's turned over a new leaf in the bike cleaning department. I've been a bad influence on him
Scorp, Skid, Willy, B from E, and Randy look over Willy's unusual Classic.
Tom, if you are checking the blog, I took this for you. The fenders and tank used to be Red and Black. Most of the accessories and performance parts used to be on your bike. In fact, almost everything except the engine and frame on this 2000 model. Turned out real nice, and even has a 2 gallon gas tank mounted where the "goat's bladder" was.
B from E, Scorp, Slammer and Skid are checking the newsgroup while waiting for the Buffet to be put out.
Sandy, Skid, David, Sharon, B from E, Scorep, Evelyn and Randy.

Last morning before getting to the Rally. Don took this of Sherm and Skid heading North East. May have to click the picture to get the detail.
We stopped in Lusk, WY for breakfast, best of the trip so far! It was the "Outpost Cafe"
Scorpion~ rolls in! This picture is a little out of order, It's one of Don's
Not Motorcycle related, but I found it interesting. This is a Hospice vehicle, it makes a round trip every day from Riverton to Casper, hauling cancer patients to get their ratiation treatments. 240 some miles round trip. I talked to one of the patients, they are all very grateful for this "free to them" service.
Here's another one to click on. We were excited about the first "lope'" we saw, but after riding by heard after heard of them all day, it sort of lost the impact. Still nice to see them.
The Out Post on Wednesday.
Getting into the pretty rocks! The top of this was "bed rock"
Farm in South Dakota
Tom greeted us at the Recreational Springs Resort. There were several turkeys, sheep, goats, lots of fowl of various kinds, and other livestock here on the property.
This is the site of the Aztec Rally. We got in about 3 PM today.
Getting settled in. The visiting has started.
Sign in the restaurant/bar at the resort.
Jamie, B from E, flying Willy at dinner
Scorpion~ will be leaving tomorrow, that's good, my tummy is sore from laughing at his jokes!
We just had a rain shower. The bikes are getting covered. I parked mine in a barn.
First Group shot. Some have already turned in for the night. This group will get larger every day. The rally hasn't even started yet.
